One of the many problems facing transplant candidates is the matter of housing, before, during, and after transplant. The requirement to be no more than a 3 hour drive from the UW hospital can mean relocation from a home town to the Seattle area. Finding reasonable rentals can often times be a challenge. Often the candidate will have a plan to get them to the hospital within the time constraints, but once there, how do they find a place for the patient and caregiver to reside for the next 3 months or so? Below are listed some resources that are made available to transplant candidates, recipients and caregivers.

If you know of any other sources for housing, please be sure to contact us so we can pass the word.

  • Transplant House: A non-profit corporation formed by transplant recipients and volunteers, providing safe, convenient, and affordable housing for pre- and post-transplant recovery. To make it even easier for candidates and their families, Transplant House even has an on-line application. Please be sure to take advantage of this very valuable resource.
  • Northwest Lung - Reaching out to individuals who are in need of lung transplantation, and their families to assist them during their time of need.
  • Jim and Monica Rose - Personal Condo for rent. Somewhat flexible rental period. Rental specifications. Pictures Page 1 Page 2
