Eddy Shaw passed away on January 4, 2009. He will be greatly missed by all. Following are some words of rememberance provided by some of those who knew him.

Angela Wagner:

Eddy will be remembered with great fondness and admiration.  He was always looking forward, never back. He spoke with hope, never regret. He shared openly with everyone his experiences, both good and not so good, but he always ended a story with words of encouragement.

Eddy was full of life; his energy was infectious.  He never hesitated to help in anyway he could; he was always willing to go out of his way to make others feel comfortable and reassured.

Eddy's smile lit up a room; his laugh unmistakable as it floated through the air.  It was indeed a cure for the blues. You couldn’t help but laugh along with him.

Eddy will be missed greatly by those of us who were fortunate enough to know him, and even to those who did not meet him in person. His kindness, generosity, and compassion spread far beyond face to face meetings.  He touched the lives of many, in one way or another, simply as a result of his dedication to making this world a bit better for all of us.

Eddy gave us many gifts and for that we are so very grateful.

From many others:
  • He was such a great person, willing to go out on a limb to give you a help. I will miss him.
  • I am sad to hear about Eddy, he was a special man.
  • I am really thankful for the time I got to spend with Eddy. He was, and continues to be, a great inspiration to me. Eddy's humor and positive attitude were unsurpassed. Like everybody who knew him, I wish his time could have been longer. He will be missed.
  • I am so bummed out about Ed Shaw.  (I saw him on) 12/31 and visited with him and he was his usual kind, smiling self, chatting and proudly showing pictures of his granddaughter. I feel thankful to have had those moments with him.
  • I was saddened to hear of Eddy’s passing.  He was an amazing contributor, in spite of living on one lung.
  • Eddy was a real hero and a great example of a guy making the most of his 2nd life. Oh how we'll all miss that crazy wonderful guy.
  • I am so sorry to hear about Eddy. I had only known of him for the year or so that I have been attending the support meetings. But he was always a very welcome and pleasant addition to the meetings. I, for one, will miss him. He was so young. My heart goes out to his family. He always looked so healthy and seemed to take good care of himself. He really was one of those positive post transplant people who is good to have in the support meetings.
  • Eddie kept on giving and making us all feel welcome. He shall not be forgotten.
  •  I did not personally know Eddy but I do know that he had every one's best interest in his heart. His spirit and his dedication will always be remembered.
  • We are sorry to hear about Eddy Shaw passing on Sunday. It is a huge loss for everyone. We will miss him.
  • I am so very sorry to hear about Eddie. He was a great man and will be a great loss to his family, friends and the community as well.
  • Eddy was a good man to me and all the people who knew him, he will be missed dearly
  • He was always so supportive of us both before and during our lung transplant process. He had such a great spirit about his own difficulties and he reached out to so many others.
  • I felt it a great privilege to know Eddie. He will be missed a great deal.  He was a man of so much love, optimism and influence to those of us waiting for our turn in line.
