2010 Transplants

 

David Huft

David lives in Forest Grove, OR. He was listed May 26, 2008 and, after waiting over 2 1/2 yrs, received a double lung transplant on Dec. 21, 2010. NICE CHRISTMAS GIFT! This picture was taken just 3 weeks later, at our Jan 11, 2011 Support Group Meeting. He looks terrific. David said he found his pre-op therapy to be of great help.

George Davies

George Davies lives in Bozeman, MT. He was listed Mar. 23, 2010 and recieved his double lung transplant Oct. 4, 2010. He says recovery has been a bit slower than anticipated, but it is great to have 2 new lungs. He is looking forward to getting back to the things he enjoys and has been un able to do.

Lillian Heintz

Lillian is from Albuquerque, NM. She was listed on March 3, 2010 and received a single lung transplant on Sept. 21, 2010. This picture, taken at our Oct. 12 support meeting, proves what she says: Her recovery is going "fantastic". Lillian adds, "No pain, all gain! What a great team a UWMH"

Pamela Andrews-Zebley

Pamela resides in Kent, WA. She was listed in October 2008 and received her transplant in September of 2010. Pam joined us for the June 2011 Support Group meeting, reporting she is doing fantastic and is so very grateful for the surgery.

Phyllis Hull

Phyllis Hull lives in Newberg, OR. She was listed for transplant May 10, 2010 and surgery was performed on Aug 17, 2010. This picture was taken at our Sept 14, 2010 Support Group meeting. Lookin good Phyllis! after only 4 weeks out. She reports recovery is good so far.

Dave Iverson

Dave Iverson and his wife Sharon live in Keller, WA. Dave waited about 4 months for his transplant, after being listed in May of 2010. His suregery was done on Sept. 1, 2010 and he reports recovery as GREAT. To read Dave's story, visit his website at CaringBridge.org

Danyel Zacharias

Danyel Zacharias of Washington state received his transplant on Aug. 16, 2010. He was placed on the list Feb. 11, 2008. Danyel says his recovery is going great..."Best thing I ever did! UW is AWESOME"

Dan Evered

Dan (pictured above with his wife) lives in Redmond, WA. He was listed on Aug. 1, 2010 and didn't have to wait long - His call came in around 9 PM on Aug.2! His surgery took place on Aug 3, 2010 and he is doing well. Dan says he is "grateful to his donor, the team at UW and great support groups.

Gail Hart

Gail was placed on the transplant list around January of 2009 and received a single lung on Aug. 3, 2010.

Gail passed away Sept. 8, 2010.

Michele Libby

Michele had been waiting since Jan 25, 2008 and finally received her transplant May 26, 2010. She resides in Lake Forest Park, WA and describes her recovery so far as "excellent"

This picture was taken at the July Support Group Meeting. Michele says she is "so greatful to Dr. Mulligan and his team as wall as Dr. Tonelli for a new lease on life!"

Cheryl Gere

Cheryl lives in Bridgeport, WA with her husband Vance and their dog Katy. She was listed in 2008 and was transplanted May 25, 2010.

Sadly, Cheryl passed away Aug 20, 2010.

Jocelyn Byers

Jocelyn Byers lives in Chehalis, WA. She was listed Jan 13, 2010 and received her transplant May 14, 2010. Jocelyn suffers from cystic fibrosis.

About a year after transplant (at the June 2011 Support Group), we decided to update Jocelyns photo. Doesn't she look FANTASTIC!

Alicia Foss

Alicia, who lives in Kennewick, WA, was transplanted on April 14, 2010. She had been on the waiting list since June 12, 2006. She reports some setbacks but is doing better now.

Zachary Young

Zach Young was listed in July 2009 and transplanted in April 2010. He lives in Black Diamond, WA. Recovery seems to be going well, and si far, he reports no issues.

Karen Livingston

Karen was transplanted on April 6, 2010. She and her husband, John, reside in Glide, OR. Recovery is going well. She is pictured here at our June Support Group meeting.

Kathlin Kennedy

Pictured at the April Support Group Meeting, Kathlin was transplanted on Mar. 5, 2010. She lives in Seattle, WA and was listed on Mar. 27, 2009. She reports her recovery so far is "excellent"

Rebecca Hobbs-Kasco

Rebecca lives in Vancouver, WA and was listed on Feb. 23, 2009. She was transplanted on Feb. 24, 2010. Seen here 7 weeks later at the April Support Group meeting, she considers her recovery so far as "excellent". Follow her to transplant and beyond on her own website bye clicking HERE.

Rebecca and her care-givers send along some advice for other recent recipients: Care-givers need to plan to be with their post-op patient 24/7 for the first 3-4 weeks after transplant. It is advisable to arrange for occasional time away and an alternate care-giver to step in for that time.

Patricia Knipe

Patricia Knipe was transplanted on Jan 26. She lives in Florence, OR. Pat was listed on Oct 15, 2009 and reports her recovery is going very well.

Roxanne Carlson

Roxanne is from Federal Way, WA. She was listed 5/22/09 and transplanted Jan 4 & 5, 2010. She states her recovery is going very well and advises others to follow all Drs orders, and taking your medications on time is very important.

NOT PICTURED

Dorothy Kulle was transplanted on September 29, 2010. She was diagnosed with IPF and was on the list for about 6 months.

Unfortunately, Dorothy passed away Nov. 23, 2010.

Brooke Vargo received her double lung transplant on Sept. 1, 2010. She was placed on the waiting list June 1, 2007. Brooke lives with her family in Hillsboro, OR and reports she is doing "awesome"
