Steve Ollila
Steve lives in Hailey, ID. He was transplanted on Dec. 14. Steve says his recovery is going well and he is very grateful for the UW Transplant team.

Don Wharton
Don lives in Pasco, WA. He was listed 6/1/09 and transplanted 12/8/09. His comments are directed to other post-transplant patients: "Don't be discouraged by the occasional bump in your recovery - not uncommon - just hang in there!

Peter was transplanted on Sept. 9 after about 11 weeks on the waiting list. This picture was taken on Oct. 20, just 6 weeks after transplantation. Peter reports his recovery is "super" and all is going well aside from a few drug side-effects.

Jerry was listed 4/1/09 and transplanted 5/1/09. Jerry makes his home in Frenchtown, MT. States he had a slow start, but is doing well after 6 months.

Karla had the honor of being UW's 500th lung transplant on April 17th after waiting on the list since November of 2006. She lives in Benton City, WA. and reports that she is doing excellent as of the July Support Group meeting.Click here to see the news video

Diane was listed for transplant on 6-19-06. After a wait of almost 3 years, she had her surgery on 3-25-09. Diane reports some "bumps in the road" but says the care she received and continues to receive from UWMC is very good, and gives them her thanks. Diane lives in Lakewood, WA

Storm and his wife live in Longview, WA. He was transplanted with a right lung on March 23. They attended the May support group meeting and he says he is doing well.

Joyce Miller
Joyce was listed Dec 11, 2006 and patiently waited until March 7, 2009 to receive her double lung transplant. Joyce lives in Hamilton, Montana and attended our June 9th meeting.
I am doing very well", she said "Feeling better than I have for a long time. Everyone here has been just great, and very helpful. Drs Mulligan and Edelman and translant nurses and social worker, Angela, are exceptional people and I thank everyone for my miracle."


Emily is 25 years old and lives in Eugene, OR. She was listed on Feb. 2, 2009 and transplanted on Feb. 16, 2009. Emily was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as an infant, at 3 months old. The picture at the right was taken at our March 10 support group meeting, just 3 weeks out from her transplant!

Jolene lives in Redmond, WA. She was placed on the wating list Apr 2, 2008 and received her lung transplant Jan 20, 2009.
Before transplant, Jolene was requiring 21 to 25 liters of oxygen. She has had some bumps along the way but feels recovery is going well. Jolene is very thankful to her donor, Larissa, and Larissa's family for such a wonderful gift.
